Meeting Roles

When you join a Toastmaster group,  you will have

a chance to participate in different meeting roles:

Toastmaster

The master of ceremonies for the day.  Creates the agenda, leads the program, and introduces the speakers. 

 

Speaker

In line with certain objectives, gives a speech on a topic of their choosing.

 

Evaluator

Evaluates the speaker publicly according to the objectives for that speech and fills out an evaluation form.

 

Grammarian

Introduces a “Word of the Day”, which everyone is encouraged to use as much as possible.  Listens for correct and incorrect uses of the English language.  Counts “ahs”, “ums” and other distracting inserts.

 

Table Topics Master - Introduces topics for the meeting's impromptu portion of the meeting. Tries to involve members not already speaking.

 

Timekeeper - Times all aspects of the meeting: Helps Toastmaster and club members run meeting on time. Gives Timekeeper's report.  Counts ballots and awards trophies.
